12th Asian and Oceanian Epilepsy Congress in Bali
From 28 to 30 July Purple Day Japan participated and showcased its activities in Asian Epilepsy Congress in Bali, Indonesia. Asian and Oceanian Epilepsy Congress was established in as a joint collaboration between International Bureau for Epilepsy (IBE) and the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) as a venue of exchanging ideas on latest research. This year the Congress provided a venue for exchanging ideas to over 1000 people.
Purple Day Japan took part in the Congress as an NGO exhibitor under the name of Purple Day Asia and distributed many purple coloured items, such as Purple Day and Purple Man badges, Japanese origami, ribbons and wrist bands, many of which were made by the patients in Day Care Centre, Suzukake Clinic. The participants in the Congress were not only delighted to receive these free items from Purple Day staff but also enchanted by the activities of Purple Day in Japan as well as philosophy behind the rehabilitation approach Suzukake Clinic is taking towards the patients with epilepsy. Furthermore, the presence of Purple Man in the Congress attracted everyone’s attention and made them come over, ask many questions and take many questions.
Purple Day Japan’s participation at Asian Epilepsy Congress was indeed a huge success in terms of raising public awareness about epilepsy in Asia and establishing solid networks. We are committed to go further and spread our activities in other parts of the world too.
