How Purple Day® Japan?
Have passionate people support non-profit grassroots marketing and funding. Funding comes from people/institutions/businesses in the medical/non-medical field via donations and volunteer work. Awareness climbs high as volunteers and donations develop new activities and events.

spirit is broadening social awareness vs epilepsy! Those with epilepsy often lead full and healthy lives, minimizing social stigma. Employers can see someone with epilepsy as fully accomplished. Yet challenges remain on both sides -- employer, and the employee with epilepsy.

Purple Day Circle Spreads Across Japan
Here are some of the Purple Day activities that took place around Japan in 2023-2024.
Purple day in Miyagi
In 2023, the professional basketball league Sendai 89ers hosted a game at our hospital.
An educational radio broadcast (Date fm FM Sendai) was made by Professor Nobukazu Nakazato of the Department of Epileptology, Tohoku University Hospital.
In 2024, mini lectures, panel discussions, and magic shows were held.

Theme discussions and presentations were held online with the Ibaraki Centre for
Disability Education on 25 March.

Epilepsy awareness activities and artwork exhibits throughout Gunma Prefecture! & Purple Day Light-up.
Purple day in Kanagawa
In 2023, For Kanagawa Purple Day, Kawasaki Marien, Enoshima Sea Candle, Ofuna Kannonji Temple, Goddess of Mercy Bridge, Zounohana Park and Kanagawa Prefectural Office Building were lit up in purple between 20 and 26 March.
In addition, a web-based epilepsy workshop was held on 21 March.
In 2024, the lights were also lit up in various locations.
Purple day in Saitama2024
An event was held at TMG Asaka Medical Centre under the theme 'Let's think about epilepsy together'.
purple day in Shinshu
Purple Day Shinshu produced leaflets and publicised the event in newspapers, and on the day of Purple Day on Sunday 26 March, we held a lecture on epilepsy and distributed Purple Day goods in Matsumoto Castle Park.
We also lit up Matsumoto Castle in purple to make Purple Day even more exciting. Despite the bad weather, around 150 people attended the event.

On the occasion of 26 March Epilepsy Awareness Day at the Ueda Shopping Centre in Ueda, Nagano, the pillars in the building were illuminated in purple from Friday 22 March to Sunday 7 April!

An event was held in Yoyogi Park where participants came together to enjoy running and walking while wearing purple.
Purple day in NCNP2023
NCNP Purple Day was held at the National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry.
Purple day in Nagoya
In 202４,Purple Day Nagoya featured many events, including a calligraphy performance to write purple letters on giant sheets of paper, a marché, workshops, a hero show for children to enjoy and a giant kaleidoscope object.
Nagoya's landmarks, such as the TV Tower and Oasis 21, were also lit up in purple.
Purple day in Wakayama
In 202３,The 'Wakayama Orange Sunrise' were photographed with the Purple Day banner at the pre-match photo shoot for the 28th Wakayama Prefecture Football Championship on 12 March, and the photo was uploaded on the team's website.
In conjunction with Purple Day on 26 March, the Wakayama Big Whale in Wakayama City̪ was lit up in purple.
In 2024, A public lecture on epilepsy was held. And Wakayama Big Whale exterior walls lit up in purple.
Purple day in Kyoto
The local hardball players wore purple uniforms and played in the final of the Kyoto Prefecture Spring Tournament in March.
On Purple Day, Kyoto Tower was lit up in purple.
Purple day in Osaka
Various events were held, including seminars, performances by brass band and chorus clubs, a quiz and flower rally in which everyone could participate, an art exhibition of people with epilepsy, a message corner for people with epilepsy, and a café space where people and families could interact.
Purple day in Okayama
Purple Day Okayama featured events with sports teams: the Okayama Rivets table tennis team and the Okayama Sea Gulls volleyball team.
Purple day in Oita2024
A public lecture was held at J:COM Holt Hall Oita.
Animal Purple Day Saga
A public lecture on epilepsy was held.
Animal Purple Day Yamaguti
A public lecture on epilepsy was held.
Purple day in Kumamoto
In 2023, Although it was a cold flower season, the rain stopped in the afternoon, the cherry blossoms were in full bloom and there was a large turnout.
Purple Day masks were also distributed to many people.
We also lit up Kumamoto Castle from 8pm. It was a fantastic night view.
Kumamoto Castle was lit up again in 2024.
Purple day in Kagoshima
At the Kagoshima Prefectural Amami Library, books on epilepsy from the library's collection were displayed and introduced to users.On 26 March, an epilepsy awareness campaign was held and the Ferris wheel Amuran was lit up in purple from 18:00.
Animal Purple Day2024
An online public lecture was organised by the Small Animal Epilepsy Clinical Research Group.
Animal Purple Day in Yokohama2024
Animal Purple Day Yokohama included a seminar on epilepsy in pets.
Purple Day Japan activities continue to spread throughout Japan as a circle, connecting people to people.

Art Exhibition on Epilepsy2021
An art exhibition on epilepsy was held for three days from September 23, 2021.
In conjunction with the exhibition, a Purple Day area was created and Purple Day activities were held.
We were able to inform people who did not know about Purple Day that epilepsy is a brain disease, that seizures are sometimes severe but not scary, and that one of the goals of Purple Day is to support people with epilepsy so that they will not be left alone.
Hachimaru, a character from Nagoya City, also came to support Purple Day.
Purple Day Nagasaki 2021 Epilepsy Art Exhibition
Purple Day Nagasaki 2021 Epilepsy Art Exhibition was held at the Nagasaki Prefectural Art Museum. In addition, on the 26th, the radio tower on Mt. Inasa and the Goddess of Mercy Bridge in Nagasaki City were lit up.
The above events were covered by the Nagasaki Shimbun and NHK Nagasaki Broadcasting Station. At Purple Day Nagasaki, we distributed Purple Day Nagasaki original badges, a collection of works from past epilepsy art exhibitions, and leaflets on how to deal with epilepsy.
Epilepsy Awareness Campaign Purple Day Dream Party
A commemorative party was held under the theme "The Courage to Challenge Your Dreams."
Through thinking about how we can make our dreams come true,
The event was held at Hotel MiraCosta in DisneySea, KY.
Installation of Purple Man vending machines
As part of the awareness campaign, original vending machines are currently installed in three locations throughout Japan. The vending machines have Purple Man printed on them, and 10% of the proceeds are donated to charity.
Jazz House with Purple Man printed on it
The "imago" jazz house in Nagoya also has a giant Purple Man printed on it, and the entire building is also made with purple as a base color. Several people with epilepsy work at this jazz house as staff members, and they are active every day.
